Hello there, I am Nicholas Yeo, a Diploma in Communications and Media Management Student at Temasek Polytechnic, Singapore.
I’m interested in journalism as a career in future and I enjoy writing very much. On that note, I was Managing Editor of Stop Press, the campus newspaper publication. I have written many articles and have comprehensive experience covering events of all kinds.
I also enjoy journalistic photography, design, travel and stationery. I love chocolates, jazz, poetry, and a wide range of literature and non-fiction. In my free time, I play tennis and pieces on the piano. I recently got my ABRSM Grade 8 certificate.
I see myself working in print and online publications in the future. I have always had an interest in magazines like National Geographic since I was young, and enjoyed shooting photos of animals and the natural world. It would be a dream to work with beautiful words and pictures. With all this being said, I cover many school events, and have extensive experience in that field.
I recently switched from the Nikon system to Canon. My D200 and then D300 served me well, and it’s time now to adapt and improve. I often read books and magazines like Digital Camera World, Digital SLR Photography, Digital Photographer, Amateur Photographer, Photography Monthly and other photography magazines to get fresh ideas and learn new techniques.
I usually rely on the 24-105 and 11-16 for their high quality and versatility. The 18-200 is mainly used when travelling, and sometimes I use the 50mm for portraits and the 100mm for macro. The 70-200 I have found very useful in sporting events and effectively allows me to shoot handheld in low light situations. It has also come in handy when I visit the zoo and use the 2x extender. I am looking to move to full-frame to take full advantage of my lenses, and I hope that the 5D Mark III will be out soon.
Nicholas
